“The Sun Is Up So Now We Can Begin…”

An Italian sonnet written for you on 2/27/12

The sun is up so now we can begin
To weigh the words and phrases in our store,
To smile with glee and wish that we had more
To build a sonnet al Italian;
A sonnet by a Kane named Catherine,
A sonnet like no other was before
A sonnet serving as an open door
To call you home and bid you welcome in;

To welcome you to cadence and to flow,
Pentameter iambic and rhyme scheme;
To tumble thus together in a dream
Of words that fit together all just so,
In patterns of precision smooth as cream
And sweet as any comfit that I know.
