Writing Regularly – Falling Off the Wagon

….and even if you do all that you can (see  Writing Regularly , Writing Regularly- Plan Ahead, and Writing Regularly- the Unexpected Busy ), there will be times when things get so busy, crazy or overwhelming that you can’t find any time at all to write.

At that point, there are three things you must keep in mind-

  • Don’t beat yourself up over this. If you’ve done the best you could, that’s the best you could do, and angst is a waste of energy at that point.
  • Do what you can to resolve the things that are making your life crazy. Every loose end you tie off moves you closer to writing again.
  • If you can’t find time to get back to writing at the moment, you may still be able to find time to think about what you want to write. Mental preparation can help you to hit the ground  running when your writing time is back.

No matter what is happening, this too shall pass; and when it does, your writing time will be yours once more.
