Hurricane Indecision

Spent the day inside during the hurricane, puttering around the house and doing fiddly little inside tasks.

Including writerly things, of course…

As I said last week, (“It’s Almost Time For NaNoWriMo…”), NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth (NaNoWriMo) is almost upon us. That’s the time when folks around the globe (myself amongst them) sign up to write a 50,000 word first draft novel in 30 days. It’s a great experience, fun, teaches you things about writing and yourself as a writer and builds strong writers twelve ways. My first novel “The Lands That Lie Between” started out as a NaNo novel.

Once more, it is my plan to sally forth into the lands of rapid novelling, but I’m finding myself in a bit of a quandary…

Do I work on a second novel to follow up on the first one, or do I head off in another direction?

I still have a few days left- but not many. It’s not acceptable to start writing before November 1st, but you can brainstorm and start planning what you’re going to write, so I need to make up my mind today or tommorrow; and so many shiney options stand before me.

As the storm moves off, its energy will depart with it, and I’m hoping my head will clear at that point. In the meantime, I’ll be thinking and pondering and worrying at my story options like a fierce little terrior with a bone.

And we’ll see what happens.

Are you doing NaNoWriMo?
