The Finish Line’s Ahead…But There’s a Lot of Words To Write First…

As I may have already previously reported (cough, cough) this month is NaNoWriMo, the month where people from all over the world (including my crazy self) sign up to try to write a 50 thousand word first draft novel in thirty days

Inconceivable, right? But lots of people sign up, and as of those people, quite a number of them suceed in writing 50 K in November

And what about yours truly?

Well, its been a pretty busy month. So there’s bad news and there’s good news.

The bad news is that I lost most of a week of writing while preparing for a convention I was speaking at, and ended up well behind. The bad news is also that, as of this evening, I still have 10 thousand ninety words to go, and only 4 days to do them in….

The good news, on the other hand, is that, in the last four days, I have written 11,563 words. And that I’m a persistant (which is pronounced “stubborn”) kind of writer who won’t give up

Will I make it? We’ll see…

But, while I’m at it, let me make a quick appeal. NaNoWriMo runs free programs for children and adults worldwide to wake us up to the joy of writing, build strong writer skills, and teach people that things that seem impossible are not only possible but also a lot of fun.

Its an organization that runs on the donations of good folks like you and me, and it needs help to keep doing amazing things. So:

  • If this seems like something you’d like to try at some point:
  • If you don’t want to write, but you’d like to support other people’s inner writers:
  • If you want to support programs that wake of the love of writing in kids who might otherwise never find their writers:

Then please go to NaNoWriMo, and help. You can make a donation or buy cool merchandise from their groovy store or consult their list of other ways that you can help support this excellent program.

And as for me, I’ve gotta get back to writing. i’ve got words to gt out there

See you soon 🙂
