Was talking to a friend the other day who was wondering where 2013 had gone and getting anxious about how far she was behind on things. i told her I’d found this to be a year where I heard lots of people talking about falling behind and that I myself was way behind on my writing for this year’s book.
You see I started work on a book about marriage behind pagans and Christians; and I also started a new job this year which takes up a lot of time and energy. I’m finding the topic is challenging to get in the tone that I want and I’m having to stop, back up and start over again and again, trying to find the right approach to it.
I’m getting the impression that this topic is more complex than it looked at first, and that its gonna require a far longer commitment from me than I had first thought in order to bring out the book that I want it to be.
At that point, I told her, I thought that I would have to let that book lie fallow for a bit and work on another thing I had in mind, if I wanted to complete this years’ book.
“But your deadline is November” she said. “You don’t think that you can write something by then?…”
Well, we’ll see now, won’t we?….
