…and this is when a lot of people start to have trouble.
The first week you’re usually flying once you get into it, the words pouring onto the page, the story rushing out of you in a flood.
The second week is not so easy. This is the week when the first rush eases and we go from a delightful torrent of words to a more moderate pace, where writing becomes less flight and more like labor.
This is the week that separates the men from the boys and weeds out the weak. Many people give up this week.
Don’t be one of them.
The first week teaches us that we are capable of amazing inspiration and creation and that you are capable of amazing amounts of productivity
The second week teaches us that we are not at the mercy of the Muse. That, while inspiration is bliss and creative mania a delight, that we can choose to control our creativity and to create whenever we choose, as opposed waiting for inspiration chooses to visit us.
These re both lessons that serve us well as writers.
So hang tough. Keep writing. And know that things will get easier again
