Find Time For Writing- Know Your Distractions

Another way to find more time for writing is to know your distractions and to work around them. Every time you’re distracted, every time you have to start again and get up to speed, you loose the time and focus you could be using for writing.

So the first thing to do is to know what distracts you. And that is not a “one size fits all” thing . Among the things that could be distracting are

  • Sound
  • Lack of sound
  • Family
  • Hunger
  • Discomfort
  • The Tv
  • Angst
  • Ergonomics
  • Seeing all the things around you that you think you “should be doing”

and so forth.

So stop a minute and think. What distracts you? What kind of things stop you from writing?

(yes, I know. This is a minute you could be writing and counts as a description itself- but the long range effects will find you hours of time so consider it an investment…)
