Everybody Needs a Cheering Section…

Some people drain you. They’ll suck the life right out of you. They’ll leave you lying on the sand, gasping for air like a beached flounder without the energy to pay attention, let alone do anything meaningful like write.Creative partners working on computer at their desk

Some folks will neither help nor hinder you.

And some folks…

some folks are your cheerleaders. They’re there to cheer you on when things seem impossible. To bring you soup and caffeinated drinks and solid snacks. To be sounding boards when you run out of ideas. To remind you that you’ve been through this before and you can make it happen And to hug you and then send you back to the keyboard.

These people are pearls of great price. Treasure them. Give them chocolate, and hugs back and negotiable bonds and whatever else it takes to keep them in your life.

Most of all, be sure that you know the difference and that you’re giving the majority of your time and attention to the cheerleaders as opposed to the vampires.

Because everybody needs a cheering section. Who’s in yours?
