No Chains on Me…

One of the disadvantages of being a self published author is that many of the major chains won’t give shelf space to self published books. They may special order copies of your books when customers request them. They make you available in their online stores- but they tend to shy away from stocking self published books for the casual browser.

Why? The biggest reason seems to be that books that come through traditional publishers can be returned if they do not sell, but a print on demand book doesn’t have that same return policy.

And so, the bricks and mortar stores tend not to stock us. What’s a self published author to do?

Well, there are some alternatives ( besides selling your books out of the trunk of your car…)

More coming…
