Read For Flavor (Writing Quick Tip)

Different genres have different patterns of storytelling. Different ways of saying things. Different types of story arcs.54f6a620-f2d8-4bdc-ad37-a97aa1a18800

Trying to write something but having a problem getting started or keeping the words flowing once you have started?

Try taking a break and reading things in the genre you’re writing.

Not for taking their work for your own. Rather for getting a feel for the rhythm and the flavor of the genre so you can coordinate your writing with the patterns common to that type of story

Take a break. Get a feel for how that genre sings

And then go back and write your own story in harmony with the genre
