Help Wanted (Games Writers Play)

Want to get to know your character better? Want to develop them more fully?

Then try writing a want ad for someone to fill the position of your main character.

Think about the story you’re trying to tell. Think about what you need your main character to do, and what kind of person would be the best fit for that position. Then write that ad (and keep in mind the word count. when you’re paying by the word, more is less; and that will help you focus in on what’s most important for your character to be and what skills and background he’ll need..)

Looking at your character through the filter of the function he serves in your story will help you to understand him more fully. Give it a try…
