SOPA and PIPA and bears, oh my!
You may have noticed a lot of activity around legislation called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) lately. The official reason for these proposed acts is to protect creative folks such as writers, artists and filmmakers from having their work taken and used without their consent or any recompense.
The problem is that these acts don’t actually accomplish that; and they can go a long way towards censoring communication on the internet.
